The secret to high quality paintwork is preparation and cleanliness.

Preparation

Painting a vehicle, which has been stripped to bare metal, requires to be etch primed to provide the best possible anti corrosion protection and surface for the subsequent coats of paint. The next step is a high quality 2 pack epoxy primer which will then require guide coating and wet and dry flatting to give the ultimate surface for the final colour and clear lacquer coats which when dry are flatted and hand polished to give a superb paint finish.

Painting over old paint is, in some instances is more difficult. We have to ensure the old paint  will not react with the new paint or become unstable when baked in the oven.

Cleanliness

A superb paint finish cannot be achieved without cleanliness (free from dust, moisture and contaminates such as silicone, oil, maintenance aerosols i.e. WD40, anti corrosion wax etc.) We have a building dedicated to paintwork with a controlled environment low bake oven in order to achieve optimum results.

Since the beginning of 2008, all solvent based paints i.e. cellulose and iso-cyanate based products are no longer available because of the environmental health and safety law.

We now use the latest technology water based paints sealed with 2-pack clear lacquer topcoat. In order to use this type of paint, we have invested in the latest up to date computer mixing scheme and colour matching equipment. All undertaken in our up to date paint booth fitted with the correct equipment to guarantee ultimate results.

Our paintshop caters for all classic, prestige and modern cars. Over the last few years, along side Austin Healeys and MGs, we have also painted Aston Martins, Lamborghini’s, Ferrari’s, Bentley’s, Rolls Royce, and Porsche motorcars.
